This week started off on a terrible foot and has been quite a roller coaster...
The Boston Marathon bombing, ricin lace letters sent out, a terrible explosion at a fertilizer plant in Texas, a manhunt for the Boston bomber then the city going on lock-down... It's been a terrible week for runners nationwide, for law enforcement, for EMT personnel, for the families of everyone that has been affected nationwide...
I ran on Tuesday in honor of the Boston Marathoners, I worked out Wednesday, and Thursday, and today... Here it is, Friday, and my legs are pretty sore after Wednesday's workout... I still worked out and pushed myself despite wanting to be glued to the TV to watch this story unfold.
Anyway, all of that rambling to say that despite everything going on like it has, I made myself complete each and every workout! Such an awesome feeling, knowing that I did what I need to for the week!
Even though I have been losing inches and feeling great, I'm ready to amp up my results. Next step for modification? Nutrition. Noooooo!!!! Haha! I think the nutrition portion of things is likely the largest hurdle for people to overcome. I mean, let's face it, food tastes good, amiright?!
People really don't realize that nutrition plays such a key role when you are on your health and wellness journey. And you'll notice I don't say "diet". Saying "diet" makes it sound, to me at least, that you can't have anything that tastes good, you have to restrict yourself, etc. Just an overall sense of negativity. Saying "nutrition" feels like an overall healthier, more achievable approach and take to food. Kind of like when you fertilize a plant. If you give it the proper fertilizer, it WILL grow strong and healthy. I want my body yield the same results. Give it good food and it should give me good results. Sound easy enough?
I'm tracking my nutrition on MyFitnessPal. If you haven't downloaded it yet and aren't using anything, I totally recommend it! A newer feature they added makes it nearly dummy's roof. Simply scan the food's barcode and be accurate in the amount of food you eat. How easy is that?!
Now, I'll be honest. I have tried to track my food before but haven't been successful. And not only have I not been successful, but I haven't been successful several times. Yup. It should make you feel better to know that it happens to everyone, even gym managers aren't perfect. The difference is that those who never try can never succeed. Sometimes it takes more than once or twice or ten or twenty times, but if you want it enough, you'll try until you're successful!
